Mazen is the President of Origin and Cause and has over 20 years of experience in the industry. He is a licensed professional engineer, designated as a consulting engineer, and is certified at two levels by the Canadian Alarm and Security Association as an Alarm Technician.

Accepted as an expert in all levels of court, Mazen specializes in fire investigation, electrical and electronic failures, product liability, and alarm system analysis. He is a member of many professional and technical associations including the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, the Canadian Association of Fire Investigators (CAFI), and the Canadian Fire Safety Association (CFSA).

Mazen has performed over 1700 fire, product liability, and alarm system investigations and has also published two articles on computer hardware damage and alarm systems. He has facilitated many educational seminars relating to alarm systems, fire investigations, and product liability.
